This paper is a survey of research in Spatial Information Management. Research is reviewed from a variety of applicaLion areas, including Geographic systems, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, Image Processing, graphical interfaces to Data Base Management Systems, and general te chniques for the representation of spatial information. Significant issues are outlined, and areas suggested for further research.
